Maryland Technology Assistance Program
Assistive Technology
MTAP operates under the auspices of the Maryland Department of Disabilities. It aims to promote independence and quality of life for the state’s elderly and disabled by increasing access to assistive technology. They do not have funding for grants. However, they are an information center for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and their funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services helps provide information, guidance and training on the ADA.
The Technology Assistance Program (TAP) in Maryland is a government initiative aimed at providing support and resources to individuals and businesses in effectively utilizing technology. TAP offers a range of services, including technical assistance, training programs, and access to technological tools.
The program focuses on bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all Maryland residents have equal opportunities to harness the benefits of technology. TAP assists individuals with various technological needs, such as setting up computers, troubleshooting software issues, and improving digital literacy skills.
For businesses, TAP offers guidance on implementing advanced technologies, optimizing digital infrastructure, and enhancing cybersecurity measures. The program also collaborates with local organizations and educational institutions to provide workshops and training sessions on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Through partnerships with technology providers and vendors, TAP facilitates access to affordable technology solutions, hardware, and software. Additionally, the program works towards expanding broadband connectivity in underserved areas, enabling greater digital inclusion across the state.
The Technology Assistance Program in Maryland plays a crucial role in empowering individuals and businesses with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the ever-evolving technological landscape efficiently.
